I have been working on this relatively large still life for the last year, refining and adding details. The center of the composition are huge amaryllis flowers on a silvery cold background of drapery and sparkling foil. On the top there are bright red berries of hypericum contrasting with the flowers. A bud of an exotic protea flower could be seen on the bottom. Despite the static character of the genre, in my still lifes I always intend to catch the movement, flowing streams of light and air, to convey the flavor and tangible density of colors.
